ROW80 CHECK-IN... IT'S ABOUT TIME, SHEESH!
Things have been interesting.
Not with writing, gosh, no. Just everything else. Of course, that's why it hasn't been interesting with writing.
But, I grow tired of excuses and whining. My own, that is -- anyone else, I'm right there for you.
What I have been doing is looking -- with new eyes -- at things I've written. I know, past tense. Yet I feel, is this avoidance? Hell yeah. But, is it lesser avoidance to, at least, read and consider past writings, or, not do anything at all?
Perhaps this is just another excuse...I don't care, it's what's getting me to sleep at night.
So, I've decided to re-think a couple of my pieces. I re-read a few things and these things did not suck...shocking!
Not sure, yet, what to do with these, but, they've got me thinking. So, this next week, my plan is to figure out what my plan is. YIKES!
Not measurable...at all.
Except in my own mind.
So, where's your mond at?

I think that's progress. Re-reading your old stuff shows how you've grown, shows areas you still need to work on. Good luck deciding what to re-work. As we're nearing the end of this round you'll be setting yourself up for success in the next round. Way to go.
ReplyDeleteThanks Raelyn, anything that even gets me thinking about writing is good right now.
ReplyDeleteI think I just erased my own comment...I'll probably view the page later and see it. But for now, I said thank you Raelyn, I am looking at things differently right now -- there are so many options. Especially for shorter work. I have the start of a series, but each story is probably only 100 -- 120 pages, not something you could traditionally publish.
ReplyDeleteI think it's just fine to take some time and assess your writing and where you want to go with it! I have gained quite a bit by looking back at what I've written before. Best wishes for a great week, Amy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie -- sometimes I'm mildly shocked to read what I've written (more than 3 months ago) "did I write that? It's not bad..."
DeleteI do have to focus though. Thanks for stopping by.
I find that my creativity flows and ebbs, and I am just along for the ride. Having an introspective week, where you stop, take stock, and look at older pieces, which might turn into something awesome, is perfect. You'll dive right in when the juices start flowing again!
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
Oh Heather, I hope so -- it seems to be taking a long time. And I know once I start again...I'll start again -- that whole '"bodies in motion stay in motion" thing.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by.
